Rachel Huntsman, MHC MS

Areas of expertise:

  • Anxiety- including social, school-based, and performance

  • Work & School Stress

  • Eating Disorders & Body Image

  • Trauma

Approach:

I work from a variety of person-centered orientations including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Wherever you are in your journey, I’ll meet you there. Together, we will take the time to create meaningful and realistic goals that honor your needs and values, and embark on the life-changing path to achieving them..

“Together we are all on a journey called life. We are a little broken and a little shattered inside. Each one of us is aspiring to make it to the end. None is deprived of pain here and we have all suffered in our own ways. I think our journey is all about healing ourselves and healing each other in our own special ways. Let’s just help each other put all those pieces back together and make it to the end more beautifully. Let us help each other survive.”

-Ram Dass

Who I help:

I work with adolescents and adults living with anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma. These issues can feel confusing and isolating, with a sense of disconnection inside. Together, we’ll create a space where all parts of you will be met with curiosity as we work towards healing and wholeness.

I am especially passionate about working with first responders, athletes, and young adults navigating eating disorders or body image concerns. In each of these areas, there can be intense pressure, high expectations for performance, and significant self-sacrifice.

How I help:

I offer a space that views every client individually and holistically, ensuring that we capture the entirety and multiplicity of who you are. Each part of you plays an important role in how you navigate each day, and I believe that various facts of our health (including the mind-body-spirit connection) play a critical role in our overall well-being.

What my clients say about working with me:

Clients share that they feel comfortable sharing their truths with me because of my calm energy and intentional listening. They feel seen, understood, and accepted in the therapy space, not feel rushed or pressured.

My clients appreciate that I bring respect, honesty and sometimes playful energy to our work. They like that I meet them where they are and am also willing to gently challenge them in the healing process. They know me to be warm, genuine, and open-minded.

Off the clock:

Outside of the office you can find me near any body of water with my daughter, husband, and our golden retriever, Tucker. I also spend any free time I have with my horse, training various forms of martial arts, and immersing myself in nature.
